'SHALIMAR': THE FLAVOUR OF SUN AND AUTUMN

This highly productive late variety combines scab resistance with the quality of fruit that keeps in good shape for long months. 'Shalimar' thrives best in warmer, sunny apple-producing areas, where the apples achieve very good taste and high sugar and refreshing acid. A good choice for those looking for an attractive variety with an intensive flavour and a decent keeping quality.

Origin:  'Topaz' x 'Golden Delicious'

Tree: habit ramified, spreading, vigour medium, diploid

Blossom: mid-season, flowers heavily and regularly

Productivity: precocious, annual producer of heavy crops

Diseases: monogenic resistance to scab, tolerance to powdery mildew

Picking time: mid-October to end of October, about two weeks after 'Golden Delicious'

Ready to eat: from January

Fruit size/shape: size medium, shape conical, stalk medium long

Colour: ground colour yellow-green to yellow, covered on about 80 % of the surface with solid red flush with weakly defined stripes, russet-free

Flesh and flavour: flesh yellowish, firm, crisp, juicy, flavour harmonic, very good, sugar and acid content high
