'Lyra' apples are the Product of the Liberec Region of 2026

Apples of our new dessert variety 'Lyra' were recognized as the Product of the Liberec Region 2026 in the "Fruits and Vegetables" category. This year marked the 22nd year of the competition, which has long showcased the best of regional production. "The Product of the Liberec Region award has become a mark of quality and a guarantee of the commitment of local producers," said Jiří Klápště, Deputy Governor for the Environment and Agriculture.

A record 40 producers from the region participated in this year's competition, submitting a total of 126 products across 10 categories. We are very pleased that our 'Lyra' apples were among the ten award-winning products.

'Lyra' is a variety with an excellent, harmonic flavor, crisp and juicy flesh, and genetic resistance to major diseases. This allows growers to significantly reduce the use of pesticides during cultivation and thus contribute to the production of fruit with a lower environmental impact. The award confirms that the direction we have been pursuing at our station for a long time - combining excellent fruit quality with sustainable cultivation practices - is meaningful."

The award ceremony will take place as part of the Regional Harvest Festival on 29 August 2026 in Jilemnice.
