Dr. Jaroslav Tupý was (together with Otto Louda Sr.) the founder of our apple breeding program. Over the years, he managed to make a name for apple varieties from a small Czech village in the world. Find out more about how our station came to be and flourish in History.
However, Dr. Tupý was also an internationally renowned scientist in the field of physiology and biochemistry of the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) and in basic research of pollen genetics.
Despite his success, he remained a very modest man, nature-loving and always willing to help others. We believe that his personality could inspire his followers in plant science. In his honour and in order to support students and young scientists in plant research, we have established Jaroslav Tupý Endowment Fund.
