Our varieties took top spots in the Holovousy summer tasting
The Holovousy summer tasting takes place every year at the end of apple storage season (after over 8 months of storage), when differences in storability between varieties are substantial. This time, the tasting was held on 27 May. In total, 39 samples were evaluated.
Our varieties tend to place very well in this competition - and this season was no exception. The samples of our varieties provided by our station ranked as follows:
- 'Lyra' (stored in ULO)
- 'Admiral' (stored in ULO)
- Ellipso® ('UEB 47021') (stored in ULO)
- 'Admiral' (stored in cold storage)
This ranking shows that our varieties combine very good flavour, texture, juiciness, and overall appeal with a long storability, which is one of the most valued traits in new varieties.
The results will be published on the website of the organizer, the Research and Breeding Institute of Pomology Holovousy.
