'ADMIRAL': THE LONG-KEEPING SWEET-TART APPLE

'Admiral' is a healthy robust variety bearing fruits with delicious full sweet-tart flavour. Thanks to it, this apple has become a favourite of many apple lovers. Besides, its exceptionally long storability ensures a great taste experience over long months. Its vigorous growth and robustness to diseases make this variety particularly suitable for organic growing.

Origin: 'Mira' x 'Bohemia'

Tree: growth very vigorous, habit spreading, forms fruiting spurs moderately, triploid

Blossom: mid-season, regular

Productivity: medium precocious, regular, slight fruit thinning recommended to prevent fruit crowding

Disease resistance: resistant to scab, tolerant to powdery mildew, susceptible to bitter pit (mainly on young trees)

Picking time: 7 - 10 days before 'Golden Delicious'

Storability: excellent, in cold storage until the end of June, in Ultra-Low Oxygen until the next harvest, it has a very good shelf life

Fruit size/shape: size medium to large, shape flat globose

Colour: ground colour is green at harvest and turns yellow during storage, over colour (70-80 %) initially dark red solid flush then becomes brightly red, russet free

Flesh and flavour: flesh firm, crisp, juicy, flavour full, very good, melting, sweet-tart
