'RUBINOLA': THE FAVOURITE OF HOBBY GARDENERS

'Rubinola' is a robust late dessert variety with attractive bright red fruit. This earlier-bred apple owes its enduring popularity especially with hobby gardeners to its very good taste, resistance to diseases and low growing requirements.

Origin: 'Prima' x 'Rubín'

Tree: habit ramified, spreading, growth vigorous to very vigorous, produces fruiting spurs moderately, bears also on terminals of young wood, a weak rootstock is required for early bearing

Blossom: mid-season, regular

Productivity: rather slow starter in bearing, matured trees crop well and regularly, no need for fruit thinning

Disease resistance: resistant to scab, tolerant to powdery mildew

Picking time: about 10 days before 'Golden Delicious'

Storability: in natural storage until March

Fruit size/shape: size medium to large, shape round-conical, stem medium to long

Colour: yellow-orange ground colour with flushed bright red over colour on 75 % of the skin, some russet in the stem cavity

Flesh and flavour: flesh yellow, firm with fine texture, juicy, taste sweet to slightly tart, very good
